The Student Guardian visa allows parents or relatives to stay in Australia to provide care and support to international students under 18 years old who are studying in Australia on a student visa.

Eligibility Requirements
- Be the parent, relative, or a person with custody of a student under 18 years old
- The student must hold or be applying for a student visa
- Be at least 21 years old
- Meet health and character requirements
- Have adequate health insurance
- Have sufficient funds to support yourself and dependents
Visa Conditions
Work Restrictions
You cannot work while holding this visa. The visa is specifically for caring for the student.
Study Limitations
You can only study:
- Up to 3 months in total, or
- Up to 20 hours per week if enrolled in English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS)
Financial Requirements
You must show you have access to:
- At least AUD $21,041 per year for yourself
- At least AUD $7,362 per year for a dependent child
- School costs for school-aged dependents
- Return travel costs
Important Information
- You cannot work on this visa
- Only one guardian visa holder can stay with the student at a time
- You must leave Australia when the student turns 18 or no longer needs a guardian
- Adequate health insurance is mandatory
- You must maintain adequate welfare arrangements for the student
