GSM Visa Options
Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)
A permanent visa for invited skilled workers who are not sponsored by an employer, state, territory, or family member.
Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)
A permanent visa for invited skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian state or territory government.
Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491)
A provisional visa for skilled workers who want to live and work in regional Australia, nominated by a state or territory government or sponsored by an eligible family member.
Points-Based System
To apply for a GSM visa, you must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect and score at least 65 points. Points are awarded for:

25-32 years: 30 points (maximum)
English Language
Superior English: 20 points
Skilled Employment
8+ years in Australia: 20 points
Educational Qualifications
Doctorate: 20 points
Australian Study
2+ years: 5 points
Specialist Education
STEM qualification: 10 points
Partner Skills
Skilled partner: 10 points
State Nomination
190/491: 5-15 points
Basic Requirements
- Have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list
- Obtain a positive skills assessment for your occupation
- Score at least 65 points on the points test
- Be under 45 years of age
- Meet English language requirements (Competent English or higher)
- Meet health and character requirements
- Receive an invitation to apply
Application Process
